MCL 100th Anniversary Ribbon
This is the approved ribbon for the 100th anniversary of the Marine Corps League (MCL). It is authorized for wear by all MCL members who are in good standing during this anniversary year (January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023). Those MCL members who are registered and attend the MCL national convention, in Oklahoma City, will rate to wear a gold frame device around the ribbon.
Designed and submitted by MCL associate member Lisa Fountain of the Belcher – Lane – Williams Detachment #146 in Port Huron, Michigan; the ribbon is comprised of 13 stripes representing the 13th Commandant of the USMC and MCL founder Major General John A. Lejeune; the scarlet and gold stripes represent the official colors of the USMC; the thicker blue stripes represent the FMF Corpsmen and Chaplain of the US Navy; the thin blue / white / red stripes represent the United States of America and the pride and love we have for our great country. The ribbon is in production and will be available in the MCL Ships Store as soon as it comes in. It will also be available for purchase at the 100th MCL national convention in Oklahoma City.
This ribbon is different from a previously designed award which was approved in error. When the administrative procedures amendment for ‘this’ award was initially presented, the actual image of Lisa’s design was not displayed. Therefore, a ribbon design was created without knowing that her design was part of the original bylaw/AP submission.
